Large pillar-supported buildings were constructed by digging holes and erecting pillars in the holes to support the floor and roof of the buildings. Two rows of three pillar holes measuring approximately 2 m in both diameter and depth have been discovered here. The holes are at regular intervals of around 4.2 m. A chestnut pillar with a diameter of approximately 1 m has been found in a pillar hole. It is considered to date to the latter half of the Middle Jomon period (approx. 4,000 years ago).
