Bracelets made of benkeigai clamshells

In the village of the Tagoyano Shell Midden, people used benkeigai clams gathered at the coast of the Sea of Japan (Shichiri-Nagahama), 4 km to the west of the village, to make bracelets. The finished bracelets are considered to have been carried to inland villages and Hokkaido. (Collection of the Aomori Prefectural Museum)
